Alistair, New Zealand - Patagonia and Lençóis Maranhenses

Leo and Ricardo are the Batman and Robin of adventure, creativity, inspiration and overall good vibes. I can promise you once you step in the Gaia portal you ain’t coming out the same!

My names Alistair, I am an amateur photographer that left my corporate job a year ago to travel with my camera and see what happens! By absolute luck I stumbled upon the Gaia Patagonia expedition and decided to jump at it. Let me tell that without a doubt it was the absolute best decision I made in 2024 and one of my biggest life changing moments.

From day one I was thrown into some of the most incredible views I have ever seen alongside a whole new bunch of new lifelong friends to share the experience and create with.  Not only did I leave Patagonia with some amazing imagery but Gaia is without doubt my single greatest source of growth and inspiration as a photographer.

If you are considering jumping on one of the their future trips, don’t think twice and take the chance. You can thank me later (I’ll probably be there too)

Zarif, United States - Northern Lights & Bear Watching

From corporate cubicle to Finnish wilderness - one photography expedition changed everything.

I had the pleasure of joining Leo and Ricardo for two back-to-back adventures in Finland. After quitting my corporate job to travel, I wanted to level up my photography skills - and Gaia delivered beyond my wildest dreams. Not only did I 10x my photography skills, but I met an incredible group of people and gained the confidence to pursue my passion full-time.

Fast forward to today: I'm now a full-time travel vlogger on YouTube and never looking back. Leo and Ricardo aren't just skilled photographers - they're incredible mentors who bring out the best in everyone they work with.

If you're on the fence about a Gaia expedition, DO IT. It was truly transformative, and I know it can be the same for you.

Keane, Singapore - Patagonia, Bear Watching and Northern Lights

Trips with Gaia expedition are definitely one for the books. For photography, both Ricardo and Leo are always so open to share their knowledge about photography. Personally, it’s the conversations with them that started shaping my photography journey - both Leo and Ricardo first believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself.

It was on these trips that reignited my love for photography again, and something in me just started to click. More importantly, these trips connected me with new friends from all over the world. The memories made and adventures created with them were truly the icing on the cake! It is something I will hold dearly with me forever.

Andressa, Brazil - Patagonia and Lençóis Maranhenses

Hi! This is Andressa. I went on my first expedition with Léo and Ricardo before Gaia was founded in Patagonia, as a gift to myself to start my photography career.

I expected to gain a lot of knowledge, experience, and tips about photography… and in addition to gaining all of this, what made the biggest difference was meeting so many incredible people, who transformed the expedition into a loving and fun environment. In addition to opening doors for me as a photographer with an incredible portfolio, it also left its mark on me, with learnings and experiences that surpass the earthly experience. By allowing myself to be touched by the art of others, and by their experiences, we transformed each day there into a dream. I felt like I was learning to live again, embracing my passion, which is to be present in the moments that go so unnoticed in routine. I learned to love photography in new ways and to see it as a door to a new way of experiencing life. I felt magic being woven on this expedition, and I thank you with all my heart for the opportunity. My advice to anyone reading this is to try it if you can, it's infinitely worth it. A big hug to Gaia, who gives us these experiences <3

Gabriel, Brazil - Lençóis Maranhenses

For a long time, I felt the need to do something different, to get out of the ordinary, out of my daily routine. I had been looking at Gaia's expeditions for at least a year, since 2023. In 2024, I decided that I would do many things for myself. Among them, an expedition with Gaia. Everything went better than I imagined! 9 strangers became family. I had unforgettable experiences, like lying on the dunes of Lençóis Maranhenses, shortly after dusk and contemplating one of the most beautiful skies I have ever seen in my life. It is incredible to be able to reconnect with nature, which we sometimes forget because of the rush of our lives.

The experience with Gaia was very transformative. It took me 100% out of the ordinary. I was able to appreciate incredible photographers from different areas, creating photos and videos every day. Coming home after all this took me to another level in my work. In addition to the advice and learning I received in conversations with our mentors Leo and Ricardo, my mind was reset for new experiences and to look at my work. In the end, since the last day of the expedition, I haven't stopped thinking about the incredible days we spent and what the next one will be like.

Tiago, Brazil - Patagonia and Namibia

I always found it a fun time along with the fulfillment of getting to know places I never dreamed of visiting, and that I probably would never have managed to do on my own. I learned a lot about photography, from people who have years of experience, in niches that I always dreamed of but never had much contact with, and with constant feedback, something you don't get in quick courses or workshops.

I also had the experience of producing and working in collaboration, of making friends and work partners for life, in addition to Ric and Léo who are always there, and several other participants in the trips that I maintain friendships with to this day.

All of these experiences brought me many realizations and confidence in my work, unique situations to create and develop creativity, of seeing that trips and photos that seemed impossible are now part of my portfolio and also bring "authority". And I also learned a lot about how to travel and enjoy life in a lighter and more fun way.

Traveling with Gaia is about connections.

I had been following Léo for a few years and I was always inspired by the way he connected with nature in such a magical way. It was definitely a dream come true to be able to be part of such an immersive trip.

As soon as I saw the Patagonia expedition, I knew I had to experience it. I didn't know anyone, I only followed Léo on Instagram, but I knew it would be special to be part of this experience.

When I read the description, something that caught my attention was the idea of “a trip between friends, to exchange experiences and create together”. And that was exactly it, from complete strangers to lifelong friends (that was the feeling I had on the very first day of the expedition), the way everyone helped each other, thought together, created, shared, the connections were formed and made each day such a unique experience.

The way Léo and Ric handled everything in an easy and profound way, beyond the breathtaking landscapes, the fun and adventure, and the surreal photos, the wealth of learning they provide changes your perspective on photography, your career, and the world. Being able to look calmly, connect with what you are doing, and put your heart and soul into it.

Without a doubt, being part of an expedition with them was a turning point in my career, a unique and special experience that I hold dear to my heart.
